Be Empowered (label of Dynamic People) consists of a group of Microsoft Power Platform enthusiasts with an ambition to support people and organizations in their innovation process. Nice, those enthusiasts, but who are they exactly? Today it’s time for colleague number 3: Stefan Bekker (Power Platform Consultant). Who is he? You can read that here.
From Dynamic People to…
Stefan is not new to the team. “I have been working for the ‘Dynamic People Group’ for about 5 years. After I started at Dynamic People, I worked in the BI Team until 2020. In 2019 Sebastian Goy gave a number of internal training courses about Power Apps (Canvas Apps), which made me very enthusiastic. I wanted to know everything about Power Apps and was immediately triggered when there were rumors about setting up a new label which would build dedicated Power Apps. That is why I joined the team from the start of Be Empowered in November 2020!” From the BI Team to Be Empowered, what’s that like? “In total I have been part of this club for 6 years now. The following applies to both Dynamic People and Be Empowered: you can give free rein to all your ideas and it is a very flexible organization. At Be Empowered the general working atmosphere is open and everyone helps each other when necessary.
A piece of background
“I studied sports marketing at the HvA (HES) in Amsterdam. That is actually the same as Commercial Economics, but focused on sports. So you also exercise more than with ‘normal’ Commercial Economics. Before entering the data world, Stefan spent a few years in retail as a manager and later on as a troubleshooter. “In the last role, I had to assess where the problem was in the stores in a very short time, in order to solve it as quickly as possible.” Hey, that’s basically what you do now isn’t it? “Definitely. What I like about my work at Be Empowered is that I’m always trying to solve problems. Whether solving that problem becomes an app, a process you automate or a report that provides new insights.” Stefan has a penchant for statistics and when he visited a friend of his who worked at Dynamic People, he was sure he wanted to get into the data world. “I am very happy with my choice, the work is so varied: there is never a dull moment.”
A little bit about Stefan
In 2019 he moved to The Hague to live with his girlfriend. “We have bought an apartment and adopted 3 cats from the shelter. Something nobody knows about him? “That I play chess at a high level. When I was 10 years old, a friend of my parents taught me to play chess. From that moment on I joined a club, and I also regularly played a game against a grandmaster: sometimes even with a surprisingly good outcome.” At the top of his bucket list is – if I may say so – the opposite of chess: driving on an F1 track. “And another dream is a trip to Australia and New Zealand.”
Finally, what is your favorite Power App?
“So far, I think the best app(s) we’ve made are the Lood365 Apps. In these apps, the customer can do both the preparatory and the actual work. Using our Power App on their tablet to process all drilling and measurements, after which a report is automatically sent to their mailbox. How cool is that?”
